The Adult Community Speech and Language Therapy Team (West Norfolk) is a small and busy team of fully qualified and registered Speech and Language Therapists and a part time Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. We work within the West Norfolk area. We offer expert assessment and management of communication and swallowing problems in adults over the age of 18. These could be associated with a range of acquired conditions such as brain injury or progressive neurological conditions.

The service will:

  • Work with the person and those around them to help them to understand all of their swallowing and communication needs.
  • Help people to make choices and set goals for improving and coping with their communication and swallowing problems.
  • Help people of varying abilities to work towards their goals, reducing harm, promoting quality of life and maximising their potential.
  • Enable people to use equipment and technology to support their communication needs.

This service can provide home visits.

Interpretation and translation services are available to people accessing the service.

Referral Procedure: To use this service, you will need to be referred by a health professional or you will need to refer yourself. This means you must see your doctor, nurse or health visitor and they will send your details to a service OR you will need to contact the service yourself and give them your details. The service will then contact you to make an appointment or explain what will happen next. Patients can also self-refer to this service.
How Service is Delivered: We will see people in community out-patient clinics, local community hospital or in their own homes / care homes as appropriate. We are also able to offer video consultation appointments.
Opening Times: Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m - 4.30 p.m. An answerphone is available at other times.
Parking and Transport: On-site parking available. Free parking for patients, car registration details to be left at reception. Tarmac car park. Disabled spaces available
Access and Facilities: Main entrance and toilet facilities are well sign posted and wheelchair accessible. Loop hearing aid system also available.
Compliments / Complaints: The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can listen to your issues, concerns, compliments or suggestions, resolve problems where possible, and feed back to services to aid service development.
