Our Emergency department (A&E) has its own dedicated entrance at the front of the hospital. The department is open all year round, 24 hours day.

Within the Emergency Department, we treat patients with life-threatening problems in the Resuscitation area (we call it Resus). Other patients may be seen in our Majors or Minors areas according to level of need. We prioritise the most seriously ill or injured patients. Patients with minor illness may be streamed to our on-site GP service.

Children are cared for in our separate paediatric treatment and waiting area.

Patients may also need to be seen by our Radiology team for x-rays and CT scans. Patients with broken bones may also be treated in our plaster room.

Interpretation and translation services can be arranged by staff, for users of this service.
