Radiology Department offers:

  • Breast Imaging / Breast Screening at Norwich Community Hospital; Cromer Hospital and mobile vans in the community
  • CT (computerised tomography) (not Cromer)
  • Interventional Radiology (not Cromer)
  • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) including Cromer
  • Plain Film X-ray (including Dentals) including Cromer
  • Bone Densitometry - DXA including Cromer
  • Ultrasound at Norfolk & Norwich, Cromer, Community Ultrasound at Swanton Morley
  • Musculoskeletal Ultrasound - including therapeutic services (Cromer diagnostic ultrasound only)
  • Nuclear Medicine at NNUH
  • Other (e.g. barium meals and swallows etc) (not Cromer)
  • Forensic (limited)

All services are by appointment only which requires a prior visit to your GP who will request imaging electronically. Some services offer direct access - please enquire.

If English is not your main language, please contact us in advance if you require interpretation services.

There are no dedicated childcare facilities available within the Department, therefore please do not bring children unless there is another adult to care for them. The department has qualified paediatric imaging staff.

Referral Procedure: Via registered Health Professionals – who have been trained and accepted to work under NNUH approved protocols
Opening Times: The Radiology Department at the NNUH is open 7 days a week, 7a.m - 8 p.m. (service times vary according to modality and appointment times). Radiology services provided at Cromer Hospital between 8am -8pm
Parking and Transport: There is also further information regarding parking and transport at all the sites.
Access and Facilities:
  • Main entrances well signposted and wheelchair accessible.
  • Wheelchair accessible lift and toilet.
  • Wheelchairs can be found at the main Inpatient and Outpatient entrances. If unavailable, please ask a member of the reception staff for assistance. Some wheelchairs require a £1 coin which is refunded when the wheelchair is returned to its collection point
  • Loop hearing aid system. The main reception areas and the reception desk in the Ear, Nose and Throat Department are fitted with an induction loop to assist people with hearing impairment.
  • If English is not your main language, we have access to interpretation services.
  • The hospital subscribes to the HIITS Interpreting and Translation Service, which provides 24-hour telephone access to trained interpreters. The hospital pays for these services and there is no cost to patients. Patients needing an interpreter should contact the Department. This service includes British Sign Language and lip-speakers for the deaf.
Special Educational Needs Accessible: There are specialist Paediatric Radiologists, radiographers and assistants. All the Radiology equipment has paediatric functionality. All Radiology staff have completed child protection training at levels appropriate to their role.

Compliments / Complaints: The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can listen to your issues, concerns, compliments or suggestions, resolve problems where possible, and feed back to services to aid service development.
