The Norfolk Teenage Parent Pathway is offered to young parents-to-be aged under 20. The Pathway ensures an enhanced service is delivered to pregnant teenagers and their family to prepare them for their new role as parents.
Commencing during pregnancy, the service is offered to enhance the health outcomes for both parents-to-be and baby. The visits do not replace midwifery care but do deliver most of the Healthy Child Programme. The pathway is tailored to the needs of the family and can offer intensive home visiting at times of additional need during the first 2 years of the baby’s life.
The pathway has been developed to work with the mother, as well as the father and wider family, on understanding their baby and building positive relationships. The young parents are facilitated to develop emotionally and work on achieving their aspirations.
