The Wheelchair Repair Service provides a full repair and maintenance service to all wheelchair users who have been prescribed equipment by the NHS. The service will collect and deliver NHS-prescribed wheelchair equipment.
If you use an electric wheelchair there is an emergency out of hours service available. When you contact Wheelchair Repair Service you should have the following information ready:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Reference number
  • Telephone number
  • Details of the problem
If you have equipment and need further advice you can talk to the Clinical Equipment Facilitator, your GP or district nurse.

Home visits can be provided for the users of this service

Age Range: 3 and over
Target Groups: Disability, End of Life / Palliative, Older people

Referral Procedure: To use this service, you can refer yourself. This means that you can contact the service yourself and give them your details. They will tell you what they can offer you. The service will then contact you to make an appointment or explain what will happen next.
How Service is Delivered: In patient's homes, schools, care homes, and at our base in Hellesdon. We are hoping to start a pit stop service in the very near future at 3 locations to be confirmed.
Opening Times: Monday to Friday, 8.00 a.m - 4.00 p.m. There is an answerphone at other times.
Parking and Transport: Limited onsite parking available. Accessible by public and community transport.
Access and Facilities: Main entrance and toilet facilities are well signposted and wheelchair accessible.
Special Educational Needs Accessible: We are able to access and maintain equipment at these individuals’ home, school or respite unit.
Special Educational Needs Contact: Contact our helpdesk for repair issues or the Wheelchair Assessment Centre for clinical guidance.
Compliments / Complaints: The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can listen to your issues, concerns, compliments or suggestions, resolve problems where possible, and feed back to services to aid service development.
