General Dental Services:
Visit the Dental section of the NHS Choices website to find local Dental Practices. Those marked "Fee paying adults Yes" are taking on new patients.
Alternatively select the Dentist option in the "Services near you" section of the NHS Choices homepage, and tick the "Accepting new patients only" option.

Any problems locating an NHS Dentist, please telephone 111.

Out of Hours and Weekend Advice/Triage:
Patients should ring 111 and will be given self-care advice and/or details of the local OOH Dental provider.

Domicilliary Dental Services:
Home visits are provided for patients who are housebound and unable to receive domiciliary care from general dental services.

Special Care Dental Services - Norfolk area

Some special care patients may not be 'housebound', but may require domiciliary visits if their behaviour is risk assessed as being too disruptive to be seen safely in a clinic setting:

  • Great Yarmouth and Waveney and Thetford (health professional or self-referral):
    Great Yarmouth and Waveney area
    Thetford area
    Patients can self-refer: Patient, recognised carer or personal representative of the patient within the specified group can access the service through self referral.

    Referrals will be accepted for assessment in the first instance from the following groups:
    - Adults and children with learning disabilities, significant medical problems, mental health problems or with special needs who are unable to access general dental services provision
    - Adults with anxiety and dental phobias
    - Children with behavioural management problems
    - Children (up to the age of 16) who are siblings of patients in the above categories who attend long term care, for the duration that they are seen within the service. This is to be discussed with the patients/parents/carer and the dental practitioner when attending clinics.

  • Norfolk: (health professional referral only)
    Special Care Dental Services - Norfolk area
    - Adults and children under 16 years with complex or special needs, including learning difficulties, where treatment with a general dentist has not been possible;
    - Children under 16 years with behaviour or management problems which make them unsuitable for treatment within general dental services;
    - In-patients of Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, where treatment with a general dentist has not been possible.
