We provide emergency NHS dental treatment and advice for patients who live in Norfolk, but do not have a regular dentist, in Kings Lynn from the Dental Access Centre.

Emergency treatment is to relieve severe pain, swelling, stop bleeding or prevent your oral condition worsening before you can make a normal appointment with a general dentist. If you have a general dentist we ask that you contact them directly for emergency care.

If you answer yes to any of the below questions it is likely that you have a dental emergency and should contact ourselves, within working hours, or 111 out of hours to discuss your specific case in more detail.

Are you bleeding from the mouth? * Are you in severe pain?
* Do you have any painful loose teeth?
* Have you suffered trauma to the face or mouth?
* Do you have any swelling in the mouth or facial area?
* Do you have any bulges or swelling on your gums?

For more information please see; Dental Emergency guide

On contacting our service you will speak to a dental nurse or receptionist who will triage your call and either book you an appointment or signpost you to the most appropriate service.

Please note, smoothing a chipped tooth, re-cementing a crown and composite bonding to repair a tooth are not considered dental emergencies. Typically, such problems can be dealt with during your dentist's regular office hours.

Patients will need to register with a general dental practice for routine and ongoing care. Please search for a local practice taking NHS patients via NHS Choices

All treatment is subject to NHS dental charges, unless you are eligible for free dental treatment. We will ask you for your NHS number and to complete a medical history so please bring a full list of your medications with you to your appointment

Interpretation and translation services can be arranged by staff, for users of this service.
