The Wheelchair Assessment Centre provides a comprehensive assessment of an individual's wheelchair and postural needs. Strict eligibility criteria applies for referral to the wheelchair services. Individuals (from around age 3 to old age) with a permanent medical / physical problem resulting in a long term mobility need will be accepted subject to assessment.
The Centre does not provide a short term loan service.
Patients registered with GPs in Norwich, Broadland, North Norfolk, South Norfolk and West Norfolk are able to use this service.

Interpretation and translation services can be arranged by staff, for users of this service.

Home visits are provided by this service in exceptional circumstances only.

Referral Procedure: Referral by a health professional. No self-referral unless it is a re-referral.
Service Delivery: Our service is delivered via clinics at our base at Julian Hospital, Bowthorpe Road, Norwich.
Opening Times: The Wheelchair Assessment Centre is based in the Re-enablement Services Centre on Bowthorpe Road and is Monday to Friday, 8 a.m - 4 p.m. (excluding bank holidays)
Parking and Transport: Onsite parking. Accessible by public transport.
Access and Facilities: Main entrance well signposted and wheelchair accessible.
Wheelchair accessible toilet.
Special Educational Needs Accessible: Our unit is fully accessible for all patients, there is a small play area in reception.
Special Educational Needs Contact: Contact Wheelchair assessment for further information.
Special Educational Needs Transition: The service caters for patients from 3 years old to old age.
Compliments / Complaints: The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can listen to your issues, concerns, compliments or suggestions, resolve problems where possible and feed back to services to aid service development.
